Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 1/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A final strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters west of Cape
Otway. 
Weather Pattern
An area of low pressure over northern Victoria will weaken during tonight and
Wednesday.  A strong high pressure system well south of the Bight will move
slowly eastwards to be located south of Tasmania on Thursday and Friday with a
ridge extending northwards across Victoria. On Saturday the high will reach the
Tasman Sea while a warm front will brush the west coast before slipping away to
the southeast. 
Victoria
Tonight and Wednesday: Isolated showers and drizzle patches chiefly in the north
and near the ranges. Morning fog patches inland. Cool to mild and partly cloudy
with light to moderate easterly wind.
Thursday:  Isolated showers near the coast and in the southeast. Fog patches
inland, mostly clearing by the afternoon. Local inland frosts. Cool to mild day.
Friday:    Isolated showers near the Gippsland coast and in the southwest later.
Morning fog and frost patches inland then cool to mild day.
Saturday:  Isolated showers in the southwest and near Wilsons Promontory.
Isolated morning fog and frosts patches in the east. Cool to mild.
Forecast for Melbourne
Tonight and Wednesday
Partly cloudy with the risk of a brief shower over northern suburbs tonight.
Fine tomorrow with lengthy sunny periods. Light to moderate easterly wind,
locally fresher over southern suburbs tonight and at first tomorrow.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Tonight and Wednesday: Easterly winds of 10 to 15 knots, reaching 20 knots at
times in the south at first. Waves to around 1 metre.
Thursday:  East to northeasterly winds of 5 to 10 knots becoming variable to 10
knots during the afternoon.
Friday:    Northeast to northerly winds of 10 to 15 knots.
Saturday:  North to northwest winds 15 to 20 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Becoming fine.
Headline Victoria:  Isolated showers in the north and near the coasts. Cool to
