VANCOUVER - Sep 22/11 - SNS -- This year's pea and lentil harvest is wrapping up in Saskatchewan, while the chickpea and canaryseed harvests are only a third complete, judging from the latest crop progress report from Saskatchewan Agriculture.
Harvesting of all crops is 76% complete, which is well ahead of the recent five-year average of 61% complete around the middle of September.
Harvest progress across the province varies. The southeast has 84% combined; the southwest 81%; the east central 74% and the west central 76%. The northern regions made great harvest progress during the week. The north east has 72% combined and the northwest has 59% combined.
