Chickpea Prices Advancing

VANCOUVER - Sep 10/11 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were generally firmer again during the past week, with suppliers raising asking prices for available stocks.

Markets are influenced by indications stocks in India are becoming rapidly depleted and supplies available from other northern hemisphere suppliers will be smaller than hoped, partly because of production problems in North America.

This has left some end users concerned that it will be difficult to bridge the gap until new crop product is available from India and Mexico in 2012.
