Firm Tone in Field Peas

VANCOUVER - Sep 10/11 - SNS -- North American field pea markets were little changed on the week, with concerns over the fundamental outlook for the commodity more than offsetting a rapidly advancing harvest.

This is reflected in the fact grower bids in Canada are in decile nine territory, which means they were lower more than 90% of the time in the past 23 years.

The record bid for farmers dressed whole yellow peas was CDN $432 per metric ton in February of 2008. Bids finished the week around $331 MT, holding them at record levels for the month of September.
