Chickpeas Firm in Tough Week

VANCOUVER - May 21/11 - SNS -- Chickpea markets maintained their firm tone throughout the past week in light trade because of tight supplies and the need for some buyers to re-enter markets to cover in merchandise bought earlier.

Meanwhile, the Canadian situation became more unsettled with news one of the key chickpea processing plants in Saskatchewan burned down during the previous week. That could force some buyers to try to re-source product from growers and processors.
