Lentil Undertone Easier

VANCOUVER - May 7/11 - SNS -- Lentil markets finished the week's trading on a generally easier note against confirmation stocks in Canada are not easing because of the poor quality of the crop.

Markets were more disappointed than surprised to see Statistics Canada peg the March 31 inventory at a record 1.12 million metric tons (MT).

That level of stocks made sense in terms of known commercial demand. Unfortunately, inventory levels make it clear farmers are not yet prepared to accept the fact normal food markets will not pay the price demanded for poor extra 3 and No 3 grade product from Canada.
