BSE Investigation Quarantines More FarmsCALGARY - May 23/03 - SNS -- Canadian officials have brought the number of quarantined cattle farms up to 13 in their investigation about the BSE infected cow, discovered on Tuesday. Most of the farms are in Alberta, where the animal was discovered, but three are in British Columbia and two in Saskatchewan. Seven of the farms housed the diseased cow during its life, while the others housed either her calves or cows from previous herds. The birthplace of the cow is still being determined, as well as the age. It is currently unknown whether the cow is six or eight years old, and information on this could prove crucial.
