Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 6/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

WARNING SUMMARY
A strong wind warning for all east coast waters. 
A strong wind warning for the eastern Gulf of Carpentaria. 
STATE FORECAST
for Tuesday night and Wednesday
Scattered showers along the tropical east coast. Isolated showers along the
southern coast and on northern Cape York Peninsula. Moderate to fresh S to SE
winds, strong along the exposed east coast and islands.  
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
The large high centred over eastern Victoria will shift very slowly northeast
near the new South Wales coast during the next few days while gradually
weakening. Strong SE winds are likely to continue in all east coast waters and
the northeast Gulf of Carpentaria on Wednesday, but then slowly ease. 
Scattered showers are expected about the tropical east coast and ranges until
the weekend at least. Showers will be more isolated about the southern coast,
and should contract north from about Fraser Island on Thursday and to the
tropical east coast on Friday. The remainder of the state can expect fine
weather for the foreseeable future.
Daytime temperatures will be near average in most areas. Overnight temperatures
will be above average in coastal parts and the tropics due to windy conditions.
