Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 30/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers, more widespread about the northeast ranges and in the southwest and falling as snow above 1400 metres. A cool mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly wind, stronger about the exposed coast and higher ranges.
Forecast for SundayShowers becoming extensive in southern and mountain areas with local hail and thunder developing. Snowfalls developing down to 700 metres and Alpine blizzards. Cold, fresh to strong northwesterly wind shifting squally west to southwesterly by early afternoon and reaching gale force about parts of the coast and over Alpine areas.
Forecast for MondayShowers in southern and mountain areas, tending to rain at times in the morning but then becoming isolated in the west later in the day. Isolated showers over the northern plains contracting eastwards. Snowfalls initially above 800 metres becoming confined to the Alps. A cool to cold day with a fresh to strong south to southwesterly wind easing in the west.
Forecast for TuesdayIsolated showers across southern and mountain areas, scattered at first in East Gippsland. Alpine snow showers above 1400 metres. Local morning fogs in the northwest. Cool to cold with mainly moderate westerly wind tending northwesterly.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.* Calls to 1300 numbers cost around 27.5c incl. GST, higher from mobiles or public phones.
