Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 3/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A gale warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Wilsons
Promontory. Strong wind warnings are current for Victorian coastal waters
between Cape Otway and Wilsons Promontory and for the Gippsland Lakes. A final
strong wind warning has been issued for Port Phillip and Western Port.
Weather Pattern
The northern tip of a cold front affecting southern Victoria will move to the
east of the State Saturday night.  A strong high pressure system will move over
Victoria on Sunday and then will persist near the east of the State for most of
next week.

Tonight and Sunday: Isolated showers contracting to Gippsland tonight and then
clearing during tomorrow.  A cool to cold and mostly sunny day after local
inland frosts. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.
Monday:    Fine apart from isolated morning fog. Early frosts then a cool to
mild day.
Tuesday:   Fine apart from isolated morning fog. Early frosts then a cool to
mild day.
Wednesday: Fine apart from isolated morning fog. Early frosts then a cool to
mild day.
Forecast for Melbourne
Tonight and Sunday
A shower or two clearing tonight. Fine and mostly sunny tomorrow with light to
moderate south to southeasterly wind.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Tonight and Sunday: South to southwesterly winds at 15 to 25 knots, moderating
to 10 to 15 knots tonight. Wind tending south to southeasterly and easing to 5
to 10 knots during the day. Waves abating to half a metre.
Monday:    Variable winds around 5 knots.
Tuesday:   Variable winds at 5 to 10 knots.
Wednesday: Variable winds at 5 to 10 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Becoming fine.
Headline Victoria:  Isolated showers in the southeast clearing. Early inland
