Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 1/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
Strong wind warnings are current for all Victorian coastal waters.
Weather Pattern
A strong high pressure system will persist south of the Bight over the next day
or two then move over Victoria late in the weekend. A cold front will move
through Bass Strait tonight then another stronger front on Saturday.
Victoria
Friday:    Showers and drizzle patches developing in the south, mainly in the
morning.  Morning fog and frost patches inland. Generally cool with light to
moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh near the coast.   
Saturday:  Scattered showers in southern and mountain districts.  Fine in the
north. Cool to cold. Windy.
Sunday:    Isolated showers in the south contracting to the southeast. Fine in
the north. Cool to cold day after local early frosts.
Monday:    Fine apart from morning fog patches. Local early frosts then a cool
to mild day.

Friday
Partly cloudy with showers or drizzle, mainly in the morning.  Moderate west to
northwesterly winds tending southwesterly during the morning.

Trend for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Friday:    West to northwesterly winds of around 15 knots  tending southwesterly
at 15 to 20 knots during the morning.  Waves around one metre.
Saturday:  West to southwesterly winds around 20 knots shifting south to
southwesterly at similar strength.
Sunday:    South to southwesterly winds of 15 to 20 knots moderating to 5 to 10
knots later.
Monday:    Variable winds at 5 to 10 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Morning showers. 
Headline Victoria:  Showers and drizzle in the south. Local morning fog and
