Daily Carlot Meat Trade Summary

DES MOINES - Mar 19/10 - SNS -- The USDA's Argicultural Market Service (AMS) office here issued its latest daily review of the U.S. carlot market for various types of meat.


USDA Carlot Meat 4:00 Summary, Compared to Previous Day
Prices in dollars per hundredweight, Equated to FOB Omaha Basis

NATIONAL BOXED BEEF CUTOUT  LM_XB403

   Boxed beef cutout values higher on moderate demand and light to moderate
offerings.  Select and Choice rib, chuck, round, and loin items higher to
sharply higher.  Beef trimmings higher on moderate demand and offerings.

   Estimated composite cutout value of Choice 1-3 600-900 lbs carcasses up 1.77
at 156.64; Select 1-3 600-900 lbs carcasses up 2.02 at 155.00; based on 76.86
loads of Choice cuts, 45.95 loads of Select cuts, 21.43 loads of Trimmings, and
44.64 loads of coarse ground trimmings.

CARCASS PRICE EQUIVALENT INDEX VALUE  NW_LS410

   Estimated carcass price equivalent value of Choice 1-3 600-900 lbs carcasses
Up 0.80 at 140.55; Select 1-3 600-900 lbs carcasses up 0.46 at 138.26.
   Current index reflects the equivalent of 263,578 head of cattle.

NATIONAL 5 DAY-ROLLING CUTTER COW CUTOUT  LM_XB405

   The Cutter cow carcass gross cutout value was estimated at 120.91 dn 0.50.

BY-PRODUCT DROP VALUE  NW_LS441

   Hide and offal from a typical slaughter steer was estimated at 10.14 down
-0.06 when compared to Wednesday's value.

NATIONAL CARLOT PORK  NW_LS500

   Sales reported on 41.0 loads of pork cuts and 10.0 loads of trim/process
pork.

   Compared to Thursday's Close:  Fresh loins steady to weak; butts unevenly
steady; sknd hams 20-23 lbs 3.00-5.00 higher, 23-27 lbs 1.00 higher; sdls bellies
14-16 lbs weak; lean trimmings 2.00-3.00 higher. Trading slow to moderate, with
mostly moderate demand and light to moderate offerings.

   *Calculations for a 200 lb Pork Carcass 53-54 percent lean 0.65" -0.80" back
fat at last rib.* **73.82 up 1.14**  Loins bone in fresh 1/4 inch trim 21# DN-
LGT 108.00-111.00; Hams bone in trimmed, 20-23 lbs trim spec 1 69.00-70.00;
seedless bellies 14-16 lbs 90.00; 16-18 lbs 88.00-92.00

Compared to last week: Carcasses higher, with 55#'s and down trending higher; 55-
85#'s 3.38-3.96 higher; 85#'s and up trending 2.88 higher.
