Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Feb 8/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY FLOOD WARNING FOR DOGWOOD CREEK, BUNGIL CREEK, AND THE BALONNE RIVER FLOOD WARNING FOR THE COMET, DAWSON and NOGOA RIVERS FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FLINDERS, NORMAN AND ADJACENT GULF RIVERS FLOOD WARNING FOR THE LANDSBOROUGH, THOMSON AND BARCOO RIVERS FLOOD WARNING FOR THE LOWER WARREGO RIVER FLOOD WARNING FOR THE PAROO RIVER FLOOD WARNING FOR THE BULLOO RIVER STATE FORECAST for the rest of Tuesday and Wednesday Scattered showers and thunderstorms, with locally heavy falls associated with slow moving thunderstorms. Mostly fine SE of about Emerald, with some morning showers about SE coastal districts. Moderate SE to NE winds elsewhere. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Thursday.. The upper low, that has produced some locally heavy falls about the Channel Country, will continue to weaken and drift to the north. So expect shower and storms activity associated with this system to become confined to tropical areas and western border districts. Showers will continue along the east coast. Some slightly drier air will cause fine conditions across the southern, south-east and central interior of the state. A weak monsoon trough from the Gulf Country through to the Northern Tropical Coast will produce showers and thunderstorms inland. A freshening of SE winds on the southern side of this trough along the east coast between Rockhampton and Townsville will produce areas of rain with at least moderate falls about the Herbert Burdekin and surrounds. Moderate SE to E winds will continue along the southern and central coasts. The winds will shift light to moderate NE over the inland. Light to moderate W to NW winds will continue across the far northern tropics to the north of the monsoon trough. Friday.. The next upper trough will move into south-eastern Australia and will enhance showers and storms over the southwest and west of the state. Some moderate, to locally heavy falls may develop in western districts. The monsoon trough will remain anchored about the north tropical coast and will again trigger showers and storms across most northern and central areas of the tropics with possible scattered showers and rain occurring about the Herbert Burdekin area. Showers will continue along the remaining east coast. Fine conditions will continue over southern, south-east and central interior of the state. Light to moderate W to NW winds will continue across the far northern tropics with light to moderate SE to NE winds elsewhere. The outlook for Saturday and Sunday is for showers and storms to continue over western and northern districts of the state due to the persisting monsoon trough and the upper trough moving across south-eastern Australia. Showers will continue along most of the remaining east coast and will become at least scattered if not rain about the central coast as the middle level disturbance --- STAT News Service
