GEORGIA PECAN REPORT (via Thomasville, Georgia)
Deliveries by growers for this week decreased as the season is
coming to an end. Interest is fairly strong for nuts that are still
available. Accumulation buying points reported strong market prices
being offered. Yard tree and door prices remain steady with a wide
range in price offered due to condition and quality issues. Most
accumulators and shellers have switched to a shorter work schedule
because of the light offerings available and will be finished for the
season early next week. Demand is good for nuts with appropriate meat
yields, uniform unit count (including smaller nut size) and low moisture
content.
For lots less than 20,000 pounds with appropriate unit count and
purchased on a meat cost basis, lots of Blends with unit counts under
80 with a meat yield of 45% or better sold in a range of about $3.20-3.45
per point, while lots with a meat yield of 40-44% sold in a range of
about $3.00-3.20 per point. Lots of Blends with a high unit count over
85 and with a meat yield of 40% or better sold in a range of about
$2.60-2.90 per point.
Deliveries and purchase of lots in lot sizes over 20,000 pounds with
appropriate unit count and purchased on a meat cost basis, lots of Blends
with a meat yield of 45% or better sold in a range of about $3.20-3.40
per point. Lots of Blends with meat yields of 40% sold in a range of
about $3.00-3.20 per point.
