Lentils Maintain Strong ToneVANCOUVER - Dec 4/09 - SNS -- North American lentil markets maintained their strong tone through the past week, helped by steady trading to some export destinations and limited selling interest among growers in both Canada and the United States. Markets were not surprised by the final Statistics Canada crop production estimates, which pegged this year's harvest at 1.51 million metric tons (MT) of all classes of lentils. Though higher than earlier forecasts, markets not only expected the number to rise, but they were looking for a higher production number.
