Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Mar 31/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY No warnings. STATE FORECAST for Tuesday Isolated showers or thunderstorms over the far northern tropics and in a broad band from the northwest of the state through the central interior to the southeast. Moderate to fresh SE winds along the east coast. Otherwise light to moderate SE to NE winds. EXTENDED OUTLOOK The high centred near Tasmania will move over the Tasman Sea on Tuesday and develop a firm ridge along the Queensland east coast. This will direct freshening southeast winds and a few showers north along the coast. Southeast winds will ease from the south on Wednesday as the high moves away across the Tasman Sea, and coastal showers should contract to the northern tropics by Thursday. Along the north tropical coast, southeast winds and isolated showers should continue with little change until late in the week. Isolated seasonal thunderstorms are likely on northern Cape York Peninsula. The northern section of the inland trough will remain near stationary in the Mt. Isa area for the next few days while the southern section drifts west towards Charleville by midweek. Isolated showers or thunderstorms are expected inland to the east of the trough, increasing in southern districts on Wednesday and Thursday in response to some colder air aloft. Dry weather will continue west of the inland trough. Temperatures over the state will be close to average. --- STAT News Service The subscriber version of the article is available by Clicking here
