Sweet Potato Area Cut 4%WASHINGTON - Mar 31/03 - STAT -- Growers intend to plant 93,500 acres of sweet potatoes in 2003, down 4% from last year and 5% below 2001 for comparable States. In releasing this year's seeding intentions estimate for the crop, the USDA said six States expect lower acreage than last year, two are unchanged, but North Carolina growers expect a 5% increase.
