U.S. Peanut Area to Drop 8%WASHINGTON - Mar 31/03 - SNS -- Producers intend to plant 1.24 million acres of peanuts in 2003, down 8% from one year ago, according to the USDA seeding intentions estimate. Of the nine producing States, six intend to plant fewer acres than in 2002. Florida and South Carolina intend to plant more acres, while New Mexico intends to show no change in planted area from 2002.
