Australia -- New South Wales Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Nov 18/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warning Summary at issue time: Fire Weather Warning for all areas west of the ranges plus the Southern Tablelands. Refer to Fire Weather Warning for the latest Rural Fire Service Total Fire Ban information. Flood Warning for the Paroo River. Strong Wind Warning for NSW coastal waters south of Seal Rocks. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/weather/nsw Current Weather Situation and Future Developments: Hot to very hot conditions will remain a feature for the state for the next few days with temperature records for November likely to be broken at a number of locations. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach low to mid forties in many locations today and Friday, and then contract to the northeast on Saturday. Coastal locations will continue to have milder temperatures as a result of seabreezes, although humidity will be higher. A trough of low pressure is expected to move into the southwest of the state on Saturday bringing rain periods, isolated thunderstorms and milder temperatures there. Isolated thunderstorms can be expected over much of the remainder of the state through to Sunday. Forecast for Thursday Fine along the northern coast. The chance of showers or thunderstorms elsewhere, chiefly about the northern tablelands. Over inland areas gusty wind conditions are likely to accompany these storms, but little if any rain is expected to reach the ground. Locally raised dust is expected in the far west. A hot to very hot day, tempered on the coast by seabreezes. North to northwest winds over most of the state, although tending northeast along the coast during the afternoon. Fire danger: Locally Extreme [75-99] : Central West Slopes and Plains, Riverina. Severe [50-74] : Lower Western. Locally Severe [50-74] : Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Upper Western. Very High [25-49] : Inland Hunter Forecast for Friday Isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms over much of the state, most likely on the northern and central ranges and coast. Thunderstorms over the inland are likely to be accompanied by gusty winds, but should have little or no precipitation associated with them. Central northern inland areas are most likely to remain fine. Locally raised dust over the inland. Hot to very hot northwest winds, with milder northeast sea breezes along the coast. A south to southwest change in the west and south later. Forecast for Saturday Rain periods and possible isolated thunderstorms developing in the southwest. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the remainder. Hot to very hot in the north and east. Milder in the southwest. Northwest to southwest winds and coastal sea breezes. Forecast for Sunday Fine in the northwest. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the southern and central inland, clearing. Isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms over the remainder.
