Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
Hot to very hot conditions will remain a feature for the state for
the next few days with temperature records for November likely to be
broken at a number of locations. Daytime temperatures are expected to
reach low to mid forties in many locations today and Friday, and then
contract to the northeast on Saturday. Coastal locations will
continue to have milder temperatures as a result of seabreezes,
although humidity will be higher. A trough of low pressure is
expected to move into the southwest of the state on Saturday bringing
rain periods, isolated thunderstorms and milder temperatures there.
Isolated thunderstorms can be expected over much of the remainder of
the state through to Sunday.
Forecast for Thursday
Fine along the northern coast. The chance of showers or thunderstorms
elsewhere, chiefly about the northern tablelands. Over inland areas
gusty wind conditions are likely to accompany these storms, but
little if any rain is expected to reach the ground. Locally raised
dust is expected in the far west. A hot to very hot day, tempered on
the coast by seabreezes. North to northwest winds over most of the
state, although tending northeast along the coast during the
afternoon.
Fire danger: Locally Extreme [75-99] : Central West Slopes and
Plains, Riverina.
Severe [50-74] : Lower Western.
Locally Severe [50-74] : Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and
Plains, South West Slopes, Upper Western.
Very High [25-49] : Inland Hunter
Forecast for Friday
Isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms over much of
the state, most likely on the northern and central ranges and coast.
Thunderstorms over the inland are likely to be accompanied by gusty
winds, but should have little or no precipitation associated with
them. Central northern inland areas are most likely to remain fine.
Locally raised dust over the inland. Hot to very hot northwest winds,
with milder northeast sea breezes along the coast. A south to
southwest change in the west and south later.
Forecast for Saturday
Rain periods and possible isolated thunderstorms developing in the
southwest. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the
remainder. Hot to very hot in the north and east. Milder in the
southwest. Northwest to southwest winds and coastal sea breezes.
