Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Mar 29/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY No warnings. STATE FORECAST for the rest of Sunday and Monday Isolated showers or thunderstorms over the far northern tropics and in a broad band from the northwest of the state down to the southeast. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds generally. EXTENDED OUTLOOK The high in the Bight will move into the Tasman Sea on Monday and develop a firm ridge along the south coast with fresh to strong southeast winds which will then weaken by Wednesday as the high moves east across the Tasman Sea. The ridge along the north tropical coast will persist but any onshore shower activity will be minimal. The northern section of the inland trough will remain near stationary for the next few days while the southern section moves east into the southeast today and then west back out into the interior of the state early in the week where it will then remain. Isolated showers and/or thunderstorms are expected to the east of the trough possibly increasing by mid-week as the trough deepens a little. The enhanced showers and thunderstorms over the far northern tropics are expected to decrease and contract north over the next day or so. Overnight temperatures will be below average across much of the south of the state through the early parts of the week.
