Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Mar 28/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY No warnings. STATE FORECAST for Saturday Showers and thunderstorms over northern Cape York Peninsula and over the south-east. Some clearing rain overnight about the south-east. Isolated showers over the north-west of the state. Fine elsewhere. Light to moderate SE to NE winds. EXTENDED OUTLOOK The shower and storm activity over the south-east will contract into the far south-east tropics and onto the southern coast on Sunday before clearing late Sunday as dry SW/S winds push through the area. These winds will then shift to the S/SE on Monday and freshen as a ridge from a high over south-eastern Australia extends along most of the east coast during Monday and Tuesday. These S/Se winds will produce a few showers along the exposed coast south of Fraser Island On Monday and along the exposed remaining coast on Tuesday. A few showers will occur about the central tropics on Sunday triggered by the surface trough and these showers will contract into the north-west of the state on Monday and Tuesday.
