Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Nov 4/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY A flood warning is current for the Paroo river. STATE FORECAST for the rest of Thursday and Friday Scattered showers and thunderstorms developing over the Central West to the SE this afternoon with possible severe cells over parts of the Darling Downs and the SE coast. Early thundery rain clearing in the SW. Fine over most of the northern half of the state apart from isolated showers in the northern tropics. Light to moderate SE winds across the tropics. Light to moderate NW/NE winds further south. A high to very high fire danger over much of the state. EXTENDED OUTLOOK By Friday, an upper level low will develop over the southern interior. This will extend thunderstorm activity further west into the Warrego district. To the east, easterly winds will freshen as showers increase in response to a high developing over the Southern Tasman sea. By Saturday, the upper level low will move north a little and weaken. This will confine the thunderstorm activity to the interior. Showers generally over eastern districts, increasing about the east coast with rain areas developing about the central coast. By Sunday, the upper level low weakens further with a smaller area of thunderstorms in the west. Isolated showers over the eastern half of the state, increasing towards --- STAT News Service
