Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Mar 27/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY No warnings. STATE FORECAST for the rest of Friday and Saturday Scattered showers and thunderstorms over northern Cape York Peninsula. Isolated showers along most of the east coast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms with areas of rain over the central and southern interior contracting slowly eastwards and weakening. Fine in the west. Moderating SE winds along the east coast. Light to moderate SE to NE winds over the inland. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Areas of rain and storms over the central and southern interior of the state are expected to contract slowly eastwards during the weekend. This activity will then clear into southern coastal areas and the Highlands area on Sunday as drier SW winds spread across the south-east inland and then off the east coast Monday. These winds will then shift to the SE on Monday as a change moves across the south-east from NSW. This change will push the shower and storm activity northwards into central coastal and inland areas of the state. Over northern areas of the state little change is expected into next week. A few showers and storm swill persist over the Peninsula while elsewhere fine or mostly fine conditions will continue in the humid air mass. --- STAT News Service The subscriber version of the article is available by Clicking here
