and ProcessinWASHINGTON - Oct 29/09 - SNS -- Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Up 7% from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 1.66 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks commercial storage on September 30, 2009 came in at 1.66 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, versus 1.04 billion pounds a year ago, according to this USDA update on the sector. This total includes 859 million pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totalled 758 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totalled 44.1 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totalled 570 million pounds of which 543 million pounds were edible grades and 26.3 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 111 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 413 million pounds of Runners, and 18.7 million pounds of Spanish.
