Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 25/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

STATE FORECAST
for the rest of Monday and Tuesday
Showers and thunderstorms over the eastern half of the state increasing over the
Central Highlands and the Darling Downs with possible severe cells and moderate
to heavy falls later this afternoon and overnight. Thundery rain spreading
across the SE coast generally this evening and developing west across the
southern interior. Some dust haze in the far west. Fine in the tropics apart
from isolated showers on the west coast of Cape York Peninsular. For Tuesday the
heavier weather will move west over the Warrego and southern Central West while
rain areas will decrease over the SE. Showers will develop about the east coast
generally. Moderate to fresh S/SE winds over the west, light to moderate E/NE
winds about the east coast.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
By Wednesday, the upper level low that generated the rain areas over southern
QLD will weaken and drift west. Showers and thunderstorms generally over the
western interior and isolated afternoon showers over the eastern interior.
Showers generally about the east coast as easterly winds freshen. The heavier
weather will now be over the eastern Channel Country. By Thursday, with further
weakening of the upper level low, thunderstorms will be isolated over the west
while decreasing afternoon showers will occur over the eastern interior. Almost
