Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 26/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

IDQ1070001
WARNING SUMMARY
No warnings.
STATE FORECAST
for the rest of Thursday and Friday
Rain areas and thunderstorms over northern Cape York Peninsula easing to showers
and storms on Friday. A few showers along most of the east coast and the
south-east inland. Rain areas and storms over the central and southern interior
contracting into the south-east inland on Friday. Fine in the west. Moderate SE
winds along the east coast, fresh at times along the northern tropical coast
today. Light to moderate Se to NE winds over the inland.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
The showers and storms over the central and southern interior of the state will
move into the south-east inland of the state on Friday and Saturday. This
activity will then clear into southern coastal areas and the Highlands area on
Sunday as drier SW winds spread across the south-east inland. These winds will
then shift to the SE on Monday as a change moves across the south-east from NSW.
This change will push the shower and storm activity northwards into central
coastal and inland areas of the state. In the wake of this change conditions
will become cooler especially at night.
Over northern areas of the state little change is expected into next week. A few
showers and storm swill persist over the Peninsula while elsewhere fine or
mostly fine conditions will continue in the humid air mass.
