Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Mar 25/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY No warnings. STATE FORECAST for the rest of Wednesday and Thursday Rain areas and thunderstorms over northern Cape York Peninsula. Isolated showers about the east coast and southeast inland. Mostly fine elsewhere with showers and storms in a band from the south-east Gulf of Carpentaria to the southern interior. Moderate to fresh SE winds along the east coast. Light to moderate SE to NE winds inland. EXTENDED OUTLOOK The surface trough will generally hover over the over the interior state into the weekend and continue to generate showers and thunderstorms to its near east. This activity will increase on Thursday and extend across south-east Queensland on Friday and Saturday as an upper trough sweeps across south-east Australia and moves off the coast on Saturday. West of the trough fine conditions will continue. The ridge of high pressure along the east coast will continue into the weekend. This ridge will direct moderate to fresh SE winds along most of the east coast, easing a little from late Thursday onwards. These winds will bring isolated showers into east coast districts.
