Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 7/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time:
Severe Weather Warning for Locally Damaging Winds for the coastal
parts of South Coast, Illawarra, Metropolitan and Hunter districts.
Sheep Graziers Warning for the South Coast. Gale warning for all NSW
coastal waters including Sydney Closed waters.

Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A deepening low in the southern Tasman Sea directs a vigorous cool
southerly airstream along NSW coast, bringing showers and windy
conditions chiefly to the southern and central coastal districts. A
high centred south of the Bight is ridging across western NSW
maintaining fine and dry conditions for inland districts. Over the
course of the next few days, the low will move towards New Zealand
and winds along the coast will gradually ease from late Thursday. The
high is expected to move east very slowly to be centred near NSW
coast by Sunday. The high will maintain moist onshore airstream with
showers persisting along the coast until the end of the week.
Forecast for Thursday
Scattered showers on the coast tending isolated on the adjacent
ranges, apart  from the far north coast. Snow on the Alps, possibly
above 900 metres on Southern Tablelands. Fine elsewhere. Early frosts
on the slopes and ranges. Cold, south to southwest winds, fresh to
strong near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions for Hunter coast.
Fire danger:
Forecast for Friday
Isolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges apart from the
far north coast. Snow on the Alps. Fine conditions elsewhere. Early
frost on the slopes and ranges. South to southeast winds. Dangerous
surf conditions for Hunter coast.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers on the coast and adjacent ranges, clearing early
from the south. Fine remainder. Early frost patches on the slopes and
ranges. Southeast to northeast winds.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers on the central and north coasts, possibly extending
to the adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.
