U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - Oct 5/09 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.


                       National Weekly Rice Summary
                 (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California)

   Domestic shipment: Offers, fob mills, milled rice, spot prices, dollars per
cwt, bagged. (All milled rice grade No 2 not to exceed 4 percent brokens, except
California grade No 1. All second heads grade No 4 or better, second head and
brewers are bulk.)

                             Domestic Situation

   Domestic milled rice price quotes were steady to lower in south and in
California this week. By-products were steady to higher in the south and steady
to lower in California.

   In the south, long grain rice price quotes were steady to 1.50 lower, quoted
mostly at 22.00-24.00; medium grain prices were steady to 5.00 lower, quoted
mostly at 31.50-33.00; parboiled quotes were steady, quoted mostly at 27.50-
28.00; second heads were steady to 1.00 lower, quoted mostly at 17.50-18.00;
brewers were steady to 1.00 lower, quoted mostly at 15.00-17.00. Rice by-
products: Offers for rice bran were steady to 10.00 higher, mostly steady to
3.00 higher; millfeed was steady in a lightly tested trade; hulls were steady to
2.00 higher in a lightly tested trade.

   In California, medium grain milled rice prices were steady to 2.00 lower,
quoted mostly at 43.50-44.00; short grain prices were steady to 2.00 lower,
quoted mostly at 44.50-45.00; second heads were 2.00-6.00 lower; brewers were 50
cents to 3.00 lower. Rice bran was 13.00 lower, hulls were 3.00 lower.
