Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 24/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Pattern
A low pressure trough over the Tasman Sea will remain slow moving for the next
few days. A ridge of high pressure will persist near Victoria from Tuesday to
Thursday while weak cold fronts pass well south of the State.  A high pressure
system will develop over the Bight and strengthen as it moves south of Tasmania
late on Friday.     
Victoria
Tuesday:   Fine apart from local morning fog in the south.  A mild to warm and
generally sunny day. Light north to northeasterly wind and afternoon coastal
seabreezes.
UV Index: 7 [High] decreasing to 4 [moderate] under cloud.  
Wednesday: Local morning fog in the south. Isolated morning coastal drizzle in
the west. Mild to warm.
Thursday:  Local morning fog in the south. Isolated morning coastal showers in
the west. Mild to warm.
Friday:    Local morning fog in the south. Isolated showers in the west, mainly
coastal. Mild to warm.
Forecast for Melbourne
Tuesday
Fine apart from early fog patches. A sunny day with light northerly wind before
an afternoon bayside seabreeze.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Tuesday:   East to northeasterly wind this morning, mainly 5 to 10 knots but
locally 15 knots in the south then afternoon seabreezes reaching 15 to 20 knots.
Waves mainly half a metre or less in the morning, rising to reach 1 metre during
the afternoon.
Wednesday: Variable winds to 10 knots and afternoon seabreezes at 15 to 20
knots.
Thursday:  South to southeasterly wind to 10 knots and afternoon seabreezes to
20 knots.
Friday:    Southeasterly winds around 10 knots and afternoon seabreezes to 20
knots.
