WASHINGTON - Sep 29/09 - SNS -- Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 1.84 Billion Pounds
Peanut stocks commercial storage on August 31, 2009 totalled 1.84 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, versus 719 million pounds a year ago, judging from the latest USDA statistics.
This total includes 1.04 billion pounds of actual farmer stock.
Shelled peanuts on hand totalled 749 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totalled 53.7 million pounds.
Shelled peanut stocks totalled 563 million pounds of which 538 million pounds were edible grades and 24.6 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 117 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 398 million pounds of Runners, and 23.5 million pounds of Spanish.
