Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Mar 23/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY No warnings. STATE FORECAST for Monday Scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms over most northern and eastern districts with light to moderate southeast to northeast winds. Fine over the west with moderate southerly winds. EXTENDED OUTLOOK The weather pattern in the Australian region is fairly static at present, and only slow changes are expected during the next few days. The surface trough will drift a little west today and then move further out into the west of the state mid-week. Scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected east of the trough with dry southerly winds west of the trough. An upper trough may increase the weather over southern parts on Tuesday. The ridge along the east coast is expected to strengthen over the next day or so with increasing southeast winds and a few showers developing in the onshore flow. Overnight temperatures will increase over the eastern interior as the surface trough moves west but still remain well below average out west where skies are dry and clear.
