Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Mar 22/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY No warnings. STATE FORECAST for Sunday Scattered to isolated showers and/or thunderstorms over most northern and eastern districts with light to moderate SE to NE winds. Fine over the west with moderate S'ly winds. EXTENDED OUTLOOK The weather pattern in the Australian region is fairly static at present, and only slow changes are expected during the next few days. The surface trough will remain almost stationary over eastern Queensland through the weekend. Scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected east of the trough with the main activity over southeast districts. Upper level winds are generally unfavourable to steer any thunderstorms onto the north tropical coast. Dry southerly winds will continue west of the trough. A high moving slowly east from the Bight will build a ridge along the Queensland east coast early next week. This will direct freshening SE winds and a few showers along the coast and adjacent ranges from Monday to at least Wednesday. Meanwhile the surface trough will drift slowly west with a daily band of isolated showers and thunderstorms nearby. --- STAT News Service The subscriber version of the article is available by Clicking here
