Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 21/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

IDQ1070001
WARNING SUMMARY
No warnings.
STATE FORECAST
for Saturday
Scattered to isolated showers and/or thunderstorms over most northern and
eastern districts. Fine over the west with moderate southerly winds.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
The low to the southeast of the continent is expected to remain in the same area
through to the early part of next week. This will have the effect of blocking
any new weather systems from moving into or developing over Queensland.
Therefore a weak ridge of high pressure will be maintained along the tropical
coast and the broad inland trough will remain almost stationary near its current
position for the next few days. Scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms
are expected to continue to the east of the trough with steering winds initially
unfavourable for bringing any thunderstorms onto the tropical coast before
Sunday. Dry southerly winds will continue to be directed into the west of the
state behind the trough. Temperatures are not likely to change much over the
next few days and will remain close to average. On Tuesday, the ridge along the
east coast strengthens with increasing southeast winds and some showers whilst
the inland trough moves westwards and will continue to generate showers and
thunderstorms. Through Wednesday and Thursday the ridge along the coast
strengthens further while the inland trough moves slowly west.
