Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 21/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
Strong wind warnings are current for Victorian coastal waters east of Cape
Otway.
Weather Pattern
A low pressure system just east of Tasmania will move slowly eastwards during
the weekend. A high pressure system south of Western Australia will continue
moving eastwards and be southeast of Tasmania on Monday.  A weakening cold front
will then move through Tasmania later Tuesday.     
Victoria
Tonight and Saturday: Cloudy with scattered showers in southern and mountain
areas, becoming more isolated tomorrow in central and western parts. Fine and
partly cloudy conditions north of the divide. Generally light to moderate south
to southwesterly winds, fresh about the coasts at times.  
Fire Danger: Generally high in the north.
UV Index: 8 [Very high] decreasing to 3 [moderate] under cloud.  
Sunday:    Isolated showers in the south, more widespread in the east, gradually
clearing from the west. Fine in the north. Cool to mild.
Monday:    Early fog patches. Isolated showers in the south east clearing. Mild
to warm.
Tuesday:   Fine apart from isolated showers later in the southwest. Mild to
warm.
Forecast for Melbourne
Tonight and Saturday
Showers this evening and again tomorrow but gradually becoming less frequent
during the day. A cloudy day with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly
winds.

Trend for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Mainly fine and becoming warmer.
Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Tonight and Saturday: Southwesterly winds of 15 to 20 knots this evening. Wind
tending south to southwesterly at 10 to 15 knots tomorrow, but locally reaching
20 knots during the afternoon. Waves around 1 metre, reaching 1.5 metres at
times.
Sunday:    South to southeasterly winds of 10 to 15 knots.
Monday:    Southeasterly winds of 10 to 15 knots and afternoon seabreezes to 15
knots.
Tuesday:   Southeasterly winds around 10 knots and afternoon seabreezes to 20
knots.
Headline Melbourne: Few showers.
