Australia -- Victoria Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Sep 1/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. for the period until midnight EST Saturday 5 September 2009. Warning Summary at issue time Frost warning for Wednesday morning for the Northeast forecast district. Strong wind warning for Victorian waters between SA-VIC Border and Cape Paterson. Weather Situation A high pressure system over New South Wales will drift eastwards overnight. A deep low pressure system will move south of the Bight on Wednesday, with an associated cold front approaching western Victoria late in the day, passing over Victoria on Thursday. The low pressure system will then move south of Tasmania during Friday and Saturday. Forecast for the rest of Tuesday Patchy drizzle in the west tonight. Isolated showers contracting to the coast and clearing. Forecast for Wednesday Morning fog and frost patches in the north and east and the chance of morning drizzle in the west. Patchy rain developing in the west during the afternoon and evening. A generally mild day with freshening northerly winds, becoming strong in the west by evening. Forecast for Thursday Patchy rain, tending to showers from the west and falling as snow above 1600 metres at night. The chance of thunderstorms about the northeast and far southwest. Local hail in the southwest during the afternoon and evening. A generally cool and cloudy day with fresh to strong north to northwesterly winds. Forecast for Friday Isolated showers, more widespread about the eastern ranges and near the coast. Snow showers above 1300 metres. Cool and partly cloudy with fresh west to northwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast. Forecast for Saturday Isolated showers, more widespread about the eastern ranges and near the coast. Snow showers above 1300 metres, rising to 1500 metres. Cool and partly cloudy with fresh northwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.
