Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 1/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A high pressure ridge is strengthening across New South Wales bringing mostly
fine weather conditions. On Wednesday the high will move over the Tasman Sea and
a cold front will approach the western border of the
state. A prefrontal cloud band is expected to reach the far west late Wednesday
with light patchy rain developing. The cloud band will move across the state on
Thursday, then contract to the northeast on Friday bringing with it areas of
rain and isolated thunderstorms. Fine conditions are likely to return for the
most of NSW on Saturday as a high pressure ridge redevelops over the State.
Forecast for Wednesday
Early frost on the ranges and slopes. Late patchy rain in the far west. Fine
remainder. Freshening northerly winds.
Forecast for Thursday
Areas of rain, mostly on and west of the ranges, contracting east during the
day. Isolated thunderstorms in the west. Fresh north to northwest winds ahead of
a westerly change in the west.
Forecast for Friday
Areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms in the northeast, clearing. Isolated
showers on the Alps. Fine remainder. North to northwest winds in the northeast,
westerlies remainder.
Forecast for Saturday
Fine apart from clearing showers in the far northeast and on the Alps. Early
frost on the southern and central ranges. Westerly winds with afternoon
seabreezes along the coast.
