Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 12/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time:
Strong Wind Warning current for coastal waters south of Green Cape.

Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A low pressure trough in northeast NSW will move east Wednesday night with
thunderstorms contracting out to sea. A low pressure system over eastern Bass
Strait is expected to move southeast during Thursday as a weak high pressure
system develops over NSW. The high will result in fine conditions for the state
Friday and Saturday before a cold front crosses western and southern parts
during Sunday.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers about the southeastern inland, more likely about the western
slopes of the far southern ranges. Snow showers on the Alps. Isolated showers
developing in the far northwest. Fine elsewhere. Early frost patches about the
ranges and early fog patches for the southern inland and north coast. Light to
moderate westerly winds, locally fresh in the southeast.
Forecast for Friday
Isolated showers on the western slopes of the far southern ranges with light
snow on the Alps, clearing. Fine remainder. Early frost areas on the ranges.
Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds.
Forecast for Saturday
Fine throughout. Widespread early frosts in the east. Very warm day in the far
west with northerly winds freshening and areas of raised dust possible Light to
moderate northwest to northeast winds elsewhere.
Forecast for Sunday
Rain areas over the southern inland tending to isolated showers during the day.
Fine in the far northeast but isolated showers developing over remaining
districts, reaching the coast later. Snow on the Alps. A very warm day in the
north and east. Northwest winds becoming strong and gusty before a cooler west
to southwest change extends through the west and south.
