Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Mar 17/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY No warnings. STATE FORECAST for Tuesday Showers and isolated thunderstorms on northern Cape York Peninsula. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing inland in a band from the north-west to the southern districts this afternoon. Scattered showers about the east coast with fresh SE winds. Fine elsewhere. EXTENDED OUTLOOK The ridge of higher pressure will peak today about the coast but will weaken tomorrow as the High moves further east. This will mean showers decreasing and SE winds easing over the SE. The inland surface trough that is generating the afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be at the most western position tomorrow after merging with a new trough from South Australia. For Thursday the western trough will drift east allowing the showers and thunderstorms to develop back east again. In fact reaching the southern SE coastal district late on Thursday. SE winds will continue to weaken about the east coast on Thursday with a further reduction of showers. By Friday the inland trough will be very close to the SE coast with showers and thunderstorms. Western districts will be dry with SE winds. Eastern districts will be rather warm with N/NE winds and.
