USDA Buys 24,520 MT of PulsesKANSAS CITY - Aug 5/09 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here confirmed the purchase of 24,520 metric tons (MT) of pulses for prepositioning at U.S. Gulf ports for eventual shipment as food aid. Under terms of USDA PL-480 food aid tender invitation 089, the pulses packed in 50 kg bags were bought for shipment from interior plants between September 1 to September 22 and between September 23 to October 14 for plants located at port. Some are also for October and November shipment. The USDA bought 380 MT of pinto beans for shipment between October 1 and 27 from origin; 380 MT of pinto beans for shipment between October 16 to November 6 from origin; and 750 MT of lentils or shipment between November 1 to November 22 from origin.
