Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Mar 15/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY Flood warning current for the Thomson River. STATE FORECAST for Sunday Showers and isolated thunderstorms over the northern tropics. Isolated showers about the east coast. A few showers and thunderstorms developing in the southeast during the afternoon. Fine over the interior. Mostly light to moderate SE to NE winds. EXTENDED OUTLOOK The monsoon trough is expected to move north over Cape York Peninsula with a contraction of the thunderstorms. SE stream showers to replace thunderstorms about the Tropical coast. Showers increasing about the east coast on Monday as SE winds freshen. This is in response to the strengthening high pressure ridge along the east coast. The inland trough will drift west but produce no weather. Eventually by Wednesday a new trough approaches from the west merging with the QLD trough.
