USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Jul 17/09 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Jul 17.


WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW

   Compared to last week, grain and soybean bids were lower with wheat trading
mix.  Wheat was pressured by fund selling, negative export sales, and global
supplies at high levels.  However, wheat did find support from fund buying, a
lower dollar, and higher stock market.  Weekly export sales for wheat came in
at 422,500 tonnes all for current marketing year.  Soybeans and corn were
lower on fund selling and favorable weather across the corn-belt.  The Midwest
received more rain showers, along with cooler temperatures in the upper 70’s
and low 80’s.  Weekly export sales for corn remained strong at 699.700 tonnes
for current year and 468,000 for next year and soybeans at 134,200 tonnes for
current year and 550,500 tonnes for next year.  Wheat was mostly 15 cents
lower to 22 cents higher.  Corn was mostly 8-20 cents lower.  Sorghum was 17-
27 cents lower.  Soybeans were 60-73 cents lower.

   WHEAT:  Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was
7 cents lower to 9 cents higher from 5.36 1/2-5.84 1/2 per bushel.  Kansas
City US No 2 Soft Red Winter rail bid was 8 cents higher from 4.74 1/2-5.19
1/2 per bushel.  St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red Winter terminal bid was 18
cents higher at 4.23 per bushel.  Minneapolis and Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern
Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 12 1/2 to 22 1/2 cents higher
from 6.80-6.90 per bushel.   Portland US Soft White wheat rail bid was 10 to
15 cents lower at 5.40 per bushel.

   CORN:  Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 4 to 15 cents lower from
3.34-3.49 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 15 to 20
cents lower from 2.98-3.03 per bushel.  Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 9
cents lower from 2.95-2.97 per bushel.  Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 11 3/4
to 18 3/4 cents lower from 3.04 3/4-3.32 3/4 per bushel.  Toledo US No 2 rail
Yellow corn was 8 3/4 to 11 3/4 cents lower from 3.21 3/4-3.30 3/4 per bushel.
Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow Corn rail was 8 3/4 cents lower at 3.13 3/4 per
bushel.

   OATS AND BARLEY:  US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 3 cents higher from 2.14 1/2-2.19 1/2 per bushel.  US No 3 or better
rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was not
available per bushel.  Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was
not available per cwt.

   SORGHUM:  US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 24 cents lower at 4.46 per
cwt.  Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was 17 to 27 cents lower from 3.93-4.20 per cwt.

OILSEEDS:  Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans, were 65 1/2 cents lower at 10.15
per bushel.  Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 60 to 73
cents lower from 10.13-10.46 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck
soybeans were 71 cents lower at 10.10 per bushel.  Central Illinois 48 percent
Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 51.50 to 53.50 lower from 332.00-339.00
per ton.  Central Illinois crude Soybean oil processor bid was 47 to 57 points
lower from 29.80-31.30 cents per pound.
