Government Buying Support U.S. PeasVANCOUVER - Jul 12/09 - SNS -- Field pea markets in the United States continue to be supported by government demand for product for shipment as food aid. The past week saw the USDA confirm the purchase of 10,100 metric tons (MT) of split yellow; 6,380 MT of whole yellow; and 1,690 MT of whole green peas mainly for movement from origin during August. It should be noted, 4,080 MT of yellow split peas are for shipment to Ethiopia in October. The next regularly scheduled PL-480 food aid tenders are July 22 and August 5. Any product bought on those tenders should be for September shipment. Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
