Barley Board Balks at GMO GrainsDONALD - Mar 13/03 - SNS -- ABB Grain Ltd is adding its support to a move by state officials in South Australia to delay commercial production of genetaically modified crops for at least another year. A media release issued on March 7 said "The SA Government has always made it clear companies seeking to introduce GM crops in SA will not be welcome until a detailed evaluation of the likely impact on the State's agriculture industry has been made". The release said it would be "premature" to allow the commercial planting of GM crops before SA's Select Committee on GMOs is finished its work. The Committee was established to advise on strategies to assess the likely impact of GM crops in SA and is due to report to Parliament by August.
