Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 12/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Wilsons
Promontory.
Weather Pattern
A weak cold front crossing eastern Victoria will clear the State tonight. A high
pressure system will develop south of the Bight by early Friday then move slowly
eastwards, passing south of Victoria during the weekend then strengthening over
the Tasman Sea on Monday.    
Victoria
Tonight and Friday: Isolated showers in the north contracting eastwards tonight
and clearing. Isolated showers and drizzle patches south of the divide chiefly
near the coast. A mild to warm and mostly sunny in the north but cool to mild
and partly cloudy in the south. Moderate south to southwest wind, locally fresh
along the coast, extending throughout by morning.
Fire Danger: High to very high in the north. Moderate to high in the south.
UV Index: 9 [very high] reduced to 4 [moderate] under cloud  
Saturday:  Isolated early drizzle near the coast otherwise fine. Mild to warm.
Sunday:    Fine apart from early fogs in the south. Generally warm. 
Monday:    Early fogs in Gippsland otherwise fine. Warm to hot.

Tonight and Friday
Fine apart from overnight and morning drizzle patches. Partly cloudy with
moderate southerly wind, fresh at times in the afternoon.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Tonight and Friday: Southwest to southerly wind of 15 to 20 knots easing to 10
to 15 knots tonight but reaching 20 knots again tomorrow afternoon. Waves about
1 metre decreasing to half a metre overnight and morning.  
Saturday:  Southeast to southerly wind to 10 to 15 knots. Afternoon seabreezes
of about 15 knots.
Sunday:    East to southeast wind to 10 knots. Afternoon seabreezes to 15 knots.
Monday:    North to northeasterly wind of 10  to 15 knots. Afternoon seabreezes
to 10 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Early drizzle then fine.
Headline Victoria:  Isolated showers and drizzle in the south. Becoming fine in
