Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 7/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EST Saturday 11 July 2009.
Warning Summary at issue time
Frost warning for the Western, North Central, Northern Country, Wimmera,
Mallee, West and South Gippsland and Northeast forecast districts.
Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by
telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A slow moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will weaken over the
weekend. A cold front will move across the Bight Thursday night and Friday and
then will enter western Victoria on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday
Cold at first with widespread morning frost and local fog patches, then a fine,
cool and mainly sunny day. Chiefly light to moderate north to northeast wind.
Forecast for Thursday
Morning frost and fog patches, then a fine and mainly sunny day. Cool with
light to moderate north to northeast, freshening in the west during the
afternoon.
Forecast for Friday
Morning frost and fog patches in the east. Patchy rain developing over western
areas during the afternoon and extending to central areas by evening. Cool to
mild with moderate to fresh northerly wind, strengthening in the west later in
the day.
Forecast for Saturday
Areas of rain extending throughout during the day ahead of a change in the
west. Isolated showers to follow the change. Cool with fresh northerly winds,
strong at times and shifting colder southwesterly in the west during the
afternoon and evening.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.
