Easier Tone in BirdseedsVANCOUVER - Jul 3/09 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading on a generally easier note, with both Canadian canaryseed and oil-type sunflower markets easing. The USDA estimated proso millet planted area for 2009 at 405,000 acres, down 22% from last year's total of 520,000 acres. The USDA did not forecast harvested area for the crop. An increase in proso millet planted area in South Dakota from 110,000 to 120,000 acres was more than offset by decreases in Colorado and Nebraska.
