MELBOURNE - Jul 3/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
Gale warning for Victorian waters between Point Lonsdale and 60nm east of Gabo
Island.
Strong wind warning for Victorian waters between SA-VIC Border and Point
Lonsdale.
Strong wind warning is current for Port Phillip.
Strong wind warning is current for Western Port.
Strong wind warning is current for Gippsland Lakes.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system is located over the Tasman Sea and a high pressure system
is over the Bight. Little change is expected in the pattern during the weekend.
A cold front will affect southern Victoria late Monday and early Tuesday, then
the high will move over Victoria Tuesday night.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Scattered showers on and south of the divide, more widespread at times about
the eastern ranges and in South Gippsland. Morning drizzle patches in the north
then isolated afternoon showers. Alpine snowfalls above 1500m. Cold with
generally fresh southwest winds, strong about most of the coast.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers on and south of the ranges, scattered over Gippsland and
falling as snow over the southern Alps. Fine and partly cloudy in the north.
Moderate to fresh south to southwest winds.
Forecast for Monday
Widespread morning frost in the north and west. Isolated showers on and south
of the ranges, more widespread in Gippsland with local hail. Showers falling as
snow above 1000 metres. Moderate south to southwest winds becoming light.
Forecast for Tuesday
Widespread morning frost and local fog. Showers in the south, mainly over
Gippsland with local hail, contracting east and later clearing, Showers falling
as snow above 1000 metres. Generally light winds.
