ST JOSEPH - Jul 3/09 - SNS -- Daily review of slaughter cattle sales, weights and average prices paid for live and dressed steers and heifers.
NATIONAL DAILY DIRECT SLAUGHTER CATTLE - NEGOTIATED PURCHASES - Summary
Roundup for: Thursday, 7/02/09
On Thursday trading activity was moderate with moderate demand in all feeding
regions. Compared to last week, in the Texas Panhandle, live sales sold 1.50 higher
at 83.50. In Kansas, compared to last week, live sales sold 1.00 higher at 83.00
and the bulk of dressed sales sold 1.50 higher at 130.50. Nebraska saw live and
dressed sales selling 2.00 higher from 82.00-83.50 and 131.00, respectively, com-
pared to last weeek. In Colorado, compared to last week, live sales sold .50 to
1.00 higher at 83.00. Not enough dressed trade activity to establish a market
trend. Last week dressed sales sold at 130.00. In Iowa/MN, compared to last week,
dressed sales sold 1.00 higher from 130.00-132.00 and live sales sold 1.50 higher
from 82.00-82.50.
Domestic source only. Live sales based on net weights FOB the feedlot after a
3-4% shrink. Dressed sales based on hot carcass weights delivered to the plant.
