Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 12/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Wilsons
Promontory.
Weather Pattern
A cold front will reach southwest Victoria early Thursday then move steadily
eastwards across the State during the remainder of the day. A high pressure
system will develop south of the Bight by early Friday then move slowly
eastwards, passing south of Victoria during the weekend.

Thursday:  Generally fine with only isolated showers developing in southern and
mountain areas and local thunderstorms later in the day about the eastern
ranges. A warm day at first in most areas but a cooler southwest to southerly
wind gradually extending from the southwest and freshening over the coast. 
Fire Danger: High to very high.
UV Index: 9 [very high] reduced to 5 [moderate] under cloud  
Friday:    Morning drizzle patches in the south. Isolated showers and
thunderstorms later over the eastern
ranges. Mild to warm.
Saturday:  Isolated early drizzle near the coast.  Local showers and
thunderstorms over the eastern
ranges later. Mild to warm.
Sunday:    Fine. Generally warm.

Thursday
Fine overnight and for much of tomorrow then a brief shower or two developing. A
partly cloudy day with north to northwesterly wind shifting cooler southwest to
southerly during the morning.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Thursday:  Variable wind to 10 knots tending northerly and freshening to 15 to
20 knots by early morning then shifting southwesterly at around 15 knots later
in the morning. Wind then tending southerly and increasing to around 20 knots
during the afternoon. Waves around half a metre increasing to around 1 metre in
the morning.
Friday:    Southerly wind of 10 to 15 knots.
Saturday:  Southerly wind to 10 to 15 knots.
Sunday:    East to southeast wind to 10 knots. Afternoon seabreezes to 15 knots.
